FPGA Design Engineer, Wireless - (HydroNet)

Bionet Sonar/HydroNet is looking for a FPGA Design Engineer for our Burlington, MA office. The candidate will help with developing state-of-the-art wireless underwater ultrasonic communication systems to support the launch of a new generation of Underwater IoT devices. Compensation is competitive based on qualifications.

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and implement FPGA-based algorithms and digital signal processing functionalities for modem and networking systems.
  • Streamline FPGA based systems and transition  algorithms to instantiations on FPGA platforms.
  • Work with a multidisciplinary team, spanning different engineering domains such as hardware, computer engineering, and networking systems.
  • Support real-world operation and demonstration of communication and networking systems.

Minimum Qualifications
  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or relevant technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ year of relevant work experience.
  • Development experience with FPGAs, hardware description languages (e.g., VHDL, Verilog), and one among C/C++/Python.
  • Experience with driver-level C code and APIs for use in the FPGA interfaces.
  • Experience with tools such as MATLAB and Xilinx Vivado.
  • Experience with signal processing on FPGAs.
  • Experience with code repository and versioning tools.

Preferred Qualifications
  • MS or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following: Microcontrollers, SoC, device drivers, ARM processors, firmware, hardware/software integration.
  • Experience with Linux operating system preferred.
  • Proficient with standard electrical equipment, including oscilloscopes, serial bus analyzers, soldering irons, and multi-meters.
  • Self-motivated, independent, and motivated self-starters able to work independently, or with a group, to achieve project requirements.​
